BIS Overview
The Business Information Service (BIS) is a specialist service aimed at providing SBS clients with the business information required to support them at various stages of the programmes. Professional and dedicated staff are on hand to help at every stage with award-winning manager Christine Reid at the helm.
BIS is an integral part of the courses that the school offers - particularly important for the flagship MBA programme - and is a vital aid at each part of the course. As a result, each student has a constantly evolving and updated information resource at their fingertips, and personal, informal advice from the BIS team. Additionally, remote access to the electronic resources, via the School's intranet, delivers research tools to the user anywhere in the world on a 24/7 basis.
BIS houses a small, but highly focused print collection. MBA, MBM, BITS and other SBS programme core texts are held, as are examples of past projects and exam papers. All materials held in BIS - book, journals, videos, company annual reports - can be identified using the BIS catalogue which is accessible via the intranet. An extensive range of electronic resources augment the print collection making the resources within BIS ideal for the research interests of both academic staff and students.
Course members also have access to all the facilities of the University of Strathclyde Library Service and the BIS staff are able to assist in the use of this resource.
Corporate information service are also catered for and can benefit from similar
information and advice as that available to current students.
