Case Study: Dinara Apiyeva MBM
Tell us about yourself
My name is Dinara Apiyeva, I'm 24 and from Kazakhstan.
Why did you choose the MBM programme?
The MBM is a good opportunity for people who do not have business experience, or at least not enough, business experience to qualify for an MBA programme. The MBM offers a similar course with the option of converting it to an MBA when you have enough work experience. Strathclyde offers this opportunity and I was intrigued about studying in Scotland, a place I had previously only experienced through Walter Scott books!
What do you think of the programme?
I liked the programme. I've gained a lot of new knowledge, and it has even changed my outlook. I particularly liked the finance course and I intend to specialise in this field. Generally, though, all the subjects have proved both important and useful.
Has it been what you expected?
Yes. At the beginning of the course it was difficult to put everything together, but I now have a clear understanding of business and management.
Are you interested in converting to an MBA in the future?
I'm very interested in converting to an MBA - it was exactly the reason why I selected the Strathclyde MBM course from other programmes that were available elsewhere.
What are your plans?
I've got an offer from an oil company in Kazakhstan which I will probably take up.
With hindsight, would you do it all again?
Yes I would.
