Ice Factor

Jamie Smith did his MBA part time at SBS. An informal chat with a classmate helped lead to an association which has seen the opening of a major leisure development in Scotland. Jamie's chat with fellow MBA student Dave Pearson revealed that Dave worked for Star Refrigeration. His organisation's expertise has been used from the start in Jamie's project, the Ice Factor, based in Kinlochleven.

Ice Factor is a major leisure development, comprising an innovative ice wall for climbers as well as traditional climbing walls and other attractions such as a plunge pool, steam room, gymnasium and lecture theatre. It opened in December 2003 and has already attracted huge publicity. The Mountaineering Council of Scotland declared it a site of national importance before it was even open.
