Before joining SBS Hugh worked at Warwick Business School and Nottingham University Business School. He holds Visiting Professor appointments at Erasmus Rotterdam, Grenoble Business School, Stern Business School, New York University, University of California at Irvine, Toulouse Business School, Bodo Business School and Kemmy Business School, Limerick University.
Hugh's research interests include international HRM in European MNCS; the role of the corporate HR function in international firms; social capital and international management; global staffing; international talent management; expatriate psychological contracts and managing human resources in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and in international joint ventures.
When Director of the Strathclyde International Business Unit, Prof Scullion redirected SIBU as a leading European research group toward the niche area of international management which built on SIBU’s traditional strengths and involved developing strategic partnerships with a number of international management groups as well as playing a key role in co-ordinating International Business research across Strathclyde University Business School.
