Professor John Bryson of the University of Minnesota's Hubert H.Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs joins USGSB as a visiting professor.
John already has a long-standing and strong relationship with staff in both USGSB and the Department of Management Science, with a history of joint research and joint publications which has included work with Professors Colin Eden and Fran Ackermann.
He has a strong commitment to research in the field of public policy and strategic management.
During his time with USGSB, he will be presenting research seminars and working with doctoral students. He will also be involved with EDP work and contributing to the Masters programmes of the school.
Areas of expertise include leadership, strategic management, and the design of organizational and community change processes. His research explores ways to improve the theory and practice of policy change and strategic management, particularly through situationally sensitive approaches.
He is the author of the best-selling Strategic Planning for Public and Non-profit Organizations, which was named the best book of 1995 by the Public and Non-profit Division of the Academy of Management. He is also the co-author, with Barbara C.Crosby, of Leadership for the Common Good, which was named the best book of 1992 by the Public and Non-profit Division of the Academy of Management.
