Jon Stokes

Clinical Psychologist

 

By background a clinical psychologist, Jon Stokes has for a large part of his career worked with executives through the Tavistock Institute, latterly in charge of their consultancy operation. He has recently resigned from this position in order to undertake work with executives in a private capacity.

Mr Stokes is also keen to be associated the University of Strathclyde Graduate School of Business, and in his role as Visiting Professor he will be active in the field of group dynamics and the roles executives play within groups from the point of view of the psychology of group work, primarily for the executive programmes USGSB offers.

Mr Stokes was latterly Director of Tavistock Consultancy Service. He founded and led this service of three Organisational Psychologists plus associates.

The IT industry, the professional services sector, management consulting, the energy industry, the police, the health and social services and the voluntary sector are all organisations with which Mr Stokes has carried out consultancy in the field of organisational psychology.

His consultancy interests include advising chief executives and senior management teams on psychological processes; the dynamic of professional services firms; group and organisational dynamics; advising on executive and management selection and development, and the training and development of management consultants.

His areas of expertise include Organisational Psychology, Group Dynamics Training, Career and Personal Development, Personnel Assessment and Selection, and Psychoanalysis.

Mr Stokes is currently President of the International Society for the Psycho-analytical Study of Organisations.
