Syllabus Structure
STAGE 1: Core and Support Modules
General Management is the core of the programme, supported by modules on Information for DecisionMaking and an introduction to the Functional Areas of Management (Management Functions).
Early in the programme you will undertake a Business Simulation which shows you how the various areas of an organisation interlink, and how decisions in one area affect decisions and operations in others.
It therefore provides a basis for not only studying each area but also why we need to establish broad business plans across an entire organisation.
The unit on Business and Management discusses the purpose of organisations and the role of management in achieving organisational goals. In parallel, you will study modules on Management Functions and Information for DecisionMaking.

STAGE 2: Elective Classes (18 credits)
Participants must select three electives, each worth 6 credits. At this stage you will decide whether to specialise or generalise.
Electives are available in the summer school, and some by open learning. a list of over 20 electives will be offered.
STAGE 3: Project (30 credits)
(Project Methodology and MBM Project) Compulsory elements of Stage 3 are the project and the unit on project methodology.
Participants are encouraged to undertake projects within organisations - SBS may be able to assist in identifying appropriate clients. The main purpose of the project is to allow participants to utilise learning from the MBM programme in an integrated manner within a practical situation.
Those electing to follow specialisms will be expected to complete their project in the same specialist area, whereas generalists would have a wider choice of project topic.
Once I have gained an MBM what's next ?
Once you have gained your MBM, and undertaken a minimum of three years' suitable business experience, you may convert your MBM into the Strathclyde MBA by taking additional credits. This process is explained further in the section 'Conversion To MBA' Top of page
