Peter qualified as a registered psychiatric nurse from Forth Valley College of Nursing & Midwifery, Falkirk, in 1991. He has spent most of his career working in a clinical capacity within Greater Glasgow NHS, eventually working as a Nurse Advisor on a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme for psychosis.
Peter graduated from the Strathclyde MBA programme in 2002, and is now completing the SGSB doctoral research programme. His research interest focuses on the micro–level aspects of strategy implementation, and the influence of sensemaking activity and commitment of change recipients on transitional processes. The research combines insights from institutional theory, strategic change, sensemaking, collaborations, and organisational discourse.
Peter completed an extensive research project on behalf of Greater Glasgow NHS and Glasgow City Council during the 1st year of operation of Community Addiction Teams (CATs) in Glasgow in 2004–05, and continues to be involved in management research studies within the NHS and social care services, particularly with those agencies developing integrated services. He continues to work as a consultant with the Scottish Executive’s Joint Improvement Team, whilst also tutoring on the Strathclyde MBA.
